A Tonic Called Humphrey’s ‘30’
Empty glass bottles of medicines and cleansers can be found all throughout the house. A bottle of “Humprey’s 30” medicine is seen in this close-up view of a fireplace mantle. The tonic was intended for “simple bladder problems and bedwetting,” according to the label. The New York City-based company also produced a Cholera Tonic #6, a Homeopathic Veterinary Remedy for animals with dyspepsia, and a variety of other concoctions.

A Collection Of Reading Materials
Marion Carll was an educator and historian, so it’s only natural that she was a voracious reader. Several bookcases may be seen throughout the house. The crates used to hold “Splendor Sunkist Oranges” from the San Fernando Heights Orange Association in San Fernando, California, are used to make this case. A well-used dictionary, a government book, a book titled Modern Europeans, and many others are among the items on display. Considering their surroundings, most of them appear to be in terrific shape.
