Ernie Els is widely regarded as the greatest South African professional golfer of all time and one of the most successful and wealthy golfers in history. Els, who is known as “The Big Easy” because of his towering 6-foot-3 stature, has won over 70 tournaments in his career. Ernie Els is one of only six golfers to have won the US Open and The Open Championship on multiple occasions. In 1994 and 1997, he won the US Open, and in 2002 and 2012, he took home The Open Championship. Els has never won The Masters or the PGA Championship despite winning four majors. Fred Couples, the former World Number One golfer, is another well-rounded player who is also extremely wealthy. Couples earned the nickname “Boom Boom” for his ability to drive the ball long and straight off the tee. He won more than 60 professional tournaments during his career. In 1991 and 1992, the American golfer was named PGA Tour Player of the Year and the Vardon Trophy for having the lowest scoring average in those two years. Couples also won the Masters in 1992, his first and only major championship before turning professional on the Senior PGA Tour.
